Sponsored by the Cobb EMC Foundation, the Comedy Writer’s Room at KOS is a bi-monthly class where aspiring comics explore the craft of stand-up comedy in a supportive, collaborative environment. We treat comedy as an art form rooted in free speech, where students learn to shape personal experiences, observations, and cultural commentary into original material.

Each month, KOS hosts a Comedy Writer’s Room Showcase, where students take the stage alongside their instructors in front of a live audience. These shows often mark a comic’s first booked performance — a milestone moment that celebrates growth, courage, and the joy of making people laugh.

Led by working comedians with deep ties to the Atlanta comedy scene, the Writer’s Room offers more than just joke-writing tips. Participants gain practical insight into stage presence, timing, audience connection, and the unwritten rules of the comedy world. It’s a space to take creative risks, challenge ideas, and build confidence through performance.
